“Steve’s beautiful house is ideal for Whiston Hospital as it’s literally 3mins walk away on a quiet residential road. I stayed in the single room which was warm and had a comfy bed, TV and broadband (no desk). Bathroom was shared with one other. I was welcome to use the well-kitted and tidy kitchen.
Steve (the live-in landlord) is brilliant: great communicator, provided everything I asked for, and was friendly and welcoming. We had some good laughs in the evenings over dinner, a great way to relax after an intense day of MCQs. I was lucky to have found this place and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.”

“A wonderful house, exactly as in photos. The 4 of us were here for the Mersey course at Whiston Hospital and it was a short, easy walk (10-15min) away. There’s a direct bus which stops almost directly outside the house but the weather made for good walking. The house is right beside the Rainhill train station which made transport with luggage significantly easier. John was easily contactable and approachable throughout (even when we accidentally locked ourselves out and had to call him at 8pm at night, sorry John!). The house itself was clean and neat. The 2 double beds easily sleep 4, but the sofa on the first floor looked pretty comfy too. The kitchen was well-stocked with a large fridge for all our shopping from the nearby supermarket. The shower was powerful and provided a nice warm bath every night. We didn’t get to enjoy the playstation 2 or TV much, but the large selection of vinyl records and a gramophone provided some entertainment as we had dinner. A perfect place to relax in after a long and tiring day!”

15mins drive from whiston hospital
Gorgeous quiet rural location on a farm. Lovely friendly owners who were so helpful and kind. Several country pubs to choose from in easy walking distance (the owners actually drove us there and back one day as it was raining). Brilliant cheap rates with the second night half price if you stayed at the weekend- I paid £67.50 for two nights in a lovely double Ensuite room with breakfast included. There are also family rooms with 2doubles in 2 separate rooms and self catering facilities which work out even cheaper if you travelling with a friend. I’ve stayed in Liverpool a few times for the course and this is by far the best value and nicest accommodation I’ve found!
Only drawbacks – at least one person staying there will need a car. They have several dogs – I quite like this and they were all friendly but it might be a problem if you really hate dogs! ”

“Gina is a friendly lady who rents out a room in her mid century home – a true (beautiful) homage to the 1950s. I paid £35 a night; £180 for the week. I was given use of the kitchen. Shared bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath! Bed is comfy and it is quiet therefore will get a good night’s sleep. I took a 30 minute bicycle ride to and from Whiston each day. It would be about 15 minutes in the car.”
